Ghana Retreat: q&a

We are super excited to be launching our very first retreat in Ghana! This coming October we will be heading to Meet Me There African Home Lodge for an unforgettable experience of yoga and African culture. Surrounded by an indigenous forest with the Atlantic Ocean in eyes view, attendees will get to nourish their well-being and deepen their yoga practice in pure luxury.

Here we will answer questions asked by you guys. If you would like to join us or learn more, head here.

How many people in total will attend the retreat?

There will be around 11 people including Rebekah, the retreat leader. We limit the group size to ensure an intimate feeling while the opportunity to meet lots of amazing people.

What kind of excursions are you looking to do?

We have 3 tours included in this trip to explore the history, culture and nature that Ghana has to offer. This will include a trip to Fort Prinzenstein, a fort located at Keta which was used in the slave trade. Other tours are a boat cruise of the Volta river and a tour of the local village, visiting the school, music station and local market.

Do many people come on their own?

Definitely! Many people choose to attend our retreats solo for a truly enriching wellness experience. We tend to have around 60% of people attending the retreat joining solo.

Does it include the price of flights?

No, the retreat price does not include flights. We will send recommended flights and this should be booked by you.

Once you arrive at the airport, we cover everything from there. This includes airport transfers, accommodation, all yoga sessions, 2 daily meals, our tours and housekeeping.

Is the retreat for people of colour only?

Nope, we offer early booking and discounts to people of colour in our BPOC yoga club to help encourage diversity and inclusivity for our trips. Our retreats are majority POC but open to all, as we believe everyone should discover, learn about and enjoy African & Caribbean culture 😊.

How do I sign up to attend?

To attend this retreat you must register interest here first. From there, if spaces are available you'll receive an email which provides details for booking.

Is the food strictly veggie/vegan?

The retreat lodge caters to all dietary requirements. With every meal, there will be delicious veggie/vegan options as well as a meat or fish option. Dinner is local Ghanaian dishes (2-course are included, but you’re welcome to upgrade to 3!). We cannot guarantee that the local restaurants visited will offer extensive vegetarian or vegan options, however, we will ensure there is at least one vegetarian meal available.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! We currently have 6-month or 4-month payment plans available (starting March 2024).

What style of yoga do you offer?

The mornings will be an energising vinyasa practice and the evenings will be a slower yin. Yoga classes regularly integrate meditation, breathwork and yoga philosophy.

Is the food included in the price of the room?

Two meals a day are included in the price of the trip. This covers a welcome dinner on the first night, breakfast and one other meal (usually dinner) on the remaining days. The final day of the retreat has breakfast included before retreat checkout. Any additional meals are covered by you as an individual, either at the lodge or when we go out to local restaurants to eat.

Any ideas people have for trips in other parts of Ghana before/after the retreat?

We will be sharing a mini guide of suggestions for places to visit in Accra and other parts of Ghana if you choose to explore beyond the retreat days! This will be available to guests once they have booked on.
