FAQS
-
This retreat is designed for anyone seeking space to pause, breathe, and reconnect — no matter your level of yoga or travel experience.
It’s for you if you’re:
Looking for a true break from distractions (no WiFi, no rushing, just presence).
Craving restorative practices like yoga, breathwork, and journaling to bring balance back to your body and mind.
Excited to experience The Gambia’s culture, food, and natural beauty in an authentic and respectful way.
Open to joining a warm, inclusive community — most guests come alone, but quickly feel part of the group.
Ready to return home feeling lighter, clearer, and deeply recharged.
✨ While this retreat is open to everyone, we especially welcome Black and People of Colour who may not always see themselves reflected in wellness spaces. Our intention is to hold space that feels safe, affirming, and culturally rooted, while still being inclusive of all who join with openness and respect.
No previous yoga experience is required. All practices are guided with care, so you’ll always feel supported whether it’s your first class or your hundredth.

✈️ What are the flight and travel arrangements?
Flights are currently £580 return form London to Banjul airport in The Gambia with the airline TUI. Flight prices may vary between now and the date of the retreat. Once you secure your retreat spot, we’ll send you flight recommendations so planning feels simple and stress-free.
Airport Transfers
We provide a group airport pick-up and drop-off from Banjul Airport to the lodge at set times, included in your retreat price. If you arrive outside of these times, we’ll help you arrange a private transfer (at your own cost). -
Breakfast is a colourful and fresh buffet of fruits, muesli, yogurt, bread, cheese, salad and eggs made-to-order by the team.
Lunches and dinners are mostly traditional Gambian dishes, using locally sources ingredients. You can read more about the venue’s food here.
Because we’ll be based in a rural coastal area, food variety may be a little more limited than in a big city. If you have specific dietary requirements, please let us know in advance — the incredible team at Footsteps will always do their best to accommodate you.
-
Most of our guests actually join the retreat solo - and it’s one of the best ways to travel. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a warm, inclusive group where connections form naturally.
Before we travel, you’ll be invited to:
A private WhatsApp group to connect and plan together
Pre-retreat meet-ups (online + in London) to break the ice
Once in The Gambia, you’ll have the option of sharing a room with another guest or booking a private room if you prefer your own space. Either way, you’ll never feel out of place — past guests often say they arrived as strangers and left as family.
-
This retreat is for all levels - from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Every class is guided with options, so you can move at your own pace and choose what feels good for your body.
Our yoga practices include:
Dynamic vinyasa flows to energise and build strength
Restorative and yin sessions to release tension and support recovery
Gentle breathwork and meditation for calming the mind
Whether you’re new to yoga, returning after a break, or already practice regularly, you’ll feel supported and encouraged throughout. The focus is less on “performance” and more on giving your body and nervous system the space to restore.
